The Russian “bros” in track suits are back! Oh yeah, and Clint Barton starring as Hawkeye. I never would have guess how much fun his life is when he’s not running around with the Avenger team. There is nothing ordinary about it as trouble seems to have a tracking chip embedded in his skin. Clint’s main problem? Girls.
Currently his biggest problem is with Darlene Penelope Wright. A train wreck of a girl that easily gets Clint into a lot of trouble. It doesn’t hurt that she’s the girl he acquired the car from in volume one and has a bed-history with. Oh yeah, and she’s married to one of the bros. All that seems like a terrible mixture for Hawkeye. Turns out it is. He makes all kinds of bad decisions because of her and even ends up in jail over it. But I swear, I never get mad at him for it. Girl-chasing/appeasing is Clint’s character flaw. Without it, he wouldn’t be him.
One thing that was especially interesting about this volume was it’s jumps in storyline: past, present, past, present, etc. So you’re always guessing what’s going to happen next. It was really cool. Another thing was it was peppered with comic covers that were made just for this story. They look like romance covers. They played a role in the story but it was cool just to see how they all looked as well.
This is funny and not too involved. You just want to find out what trouble Clint is going to get himself into. Loved it.
Verdict: 7/10
